On account of the press's typical structure (C plates and cross key), the commercial finite element software Marc was used to study the contact stress laws which was caused by the huge working load during forging to ensure the nice integrated working performance of large forging press's composite structure results. The research results indicate that the contact area decreases, the slit appears, and the distribution of contact stress is extremely non-uniform between C plates and cross key, which directly affects the transmission characteristics of force flow during the process of loading. The reasonable interference fit is set to improve or eliminate the phenomenon. The interference fit makes the maximum downrange of slit reach to 77.87% under the premise of meeting strength design, improves the extremely non-uniform contact stress, the maximum stress difference changes from 156.42 MPa to 131.59 MPa, and the increase of contact area leads to the transmission of force flow uniformly.
