A method of controlling blanking burr was put forward based on the analysis of blanking process, and it was called pre-cutting blanking. Then, the pre-cutting blanking process for stainless steel AISI304 with the thickness of 1.2 mm was simulated by Deform-2D. Furthermore, the cross-section quality and distribution of stress were analyzed, and the relationship between length of bright region in the cross section of blanking and process parameters (pre-cutting angle, pre-cutting depth, blanking speed and die clearances) was studied. The simulation results show that the length of bright region increases firstly and then decreases with the increase of pre-cutting angle, pre-cutting depth and blanking speed, while it decreases with the increase of die clearances. The control of blanking burr is realized by pre-cutting blanking under a reasonable range of pre-cutting depth (0.2-0.4 mm). In addition, the practicability of pre-cutting blanking is verified by the die, and the error between experiment and simulation is 17.78%. Therefore, the product quality is improved.
