Abstract:
This paper found the accurate upper\|bound solution for the indentation of a semi infinite body by a smooth flat punch. In this paper, first, a kinematically admissible velocity field approaching the slip line field was designed. The central fan slip line field in the plastic deformation zone was devidced into n rigid isosceles triangle blocks slipping each other, and the general formula of the upper\|bound solution with n was deduced. Then, when n→∞, the accurate upper-bound solution to be identically equal to the slip line solution was obtained.
