Abstract:
The basic principle and the method of oil drill pipe end upsetting process were presented.Aimed at the Φ137.9 mm×9.17 mm oil drill pipe,the upsetting process plan was put forward,and the end upsetting process was simulated by using DEFORM-3D.The simulation results displayed by the Post Processor show the previous scheme problem that there is a large gap between the internal wall of the ultimately forged pipe and the punch.An improved scheme was presented,and the length of the die cavity and the movement distance of the punch were increased in the second step.The simulation results show that the internal wall of the ultimately forged pipe is filled with the most ideal situation and the taper of the internal upset part is relatively smooth when the increased length is suitable.The improved scheme is feasible,which provides a guidance for designing the upsetting die of the similar drill pipe.
