Abstract:

Buckling is a common problem in continuous annealing furnace. Due to the combination of roll crown, friction,cumulation effect of plastic and other factors, when the strip runs over the rotating tapered rolls under tension, the quality defect of strip buckling would be occurred. Using finite element software ABAQUS to analyse the strip buckling in continuous annealing furnace, the distribution of tension on strip, buckling critical load, the relationship between the location of buckling and strip tension were found.The results show that there are compressive stresses on the strip.The buckling critical load of 8  tapered roll is between 18 MPa and 20.5 MPa. Buckling appears at the cylindrical part of furnace roll when strip tension is small,but if the tension is much larger, it appears at both cylindrical and shoulder of furnace roll.
