Abstract:

Based on the analysis of the structure for alternator poles, two closed die forging steps in one time  heating of alternator poles forming process and its forming die were put forward. First,the bottom base of alternator poles was performed by upsetting, then the middle boss and pole claw were formed by reverse extrusion. A 3\|D coupled thermo\|mechanical finite element model was created, which is analyzed by the software Deform-3D. The billet deformation, metal flow and forming load were obtained. The results show that a well tooth filling forging without overlap defects can be obtained by this process, the forging load at the first step raises slowly when the middle boss is filling completely at the second step and the load raises sharply with the final forging load of 1450kN.
