Title:Research on cupping test and drawing test of tantalum sheet

Abstract:

The bulging properties of pure tantalum sheet and the lubrication problem of pure tantalum sheet in drawing forming process were studied. Then, the cupping test of pure tantalum sheet with thickness of 0.5 mm was conducted by cupping test equipment, and the mean values of IE for several cupping tests of the pure tantalum sheet and breaking force were 8.74 mm and 6.976 kN, respectively. The results show that the bulging properties and plasticity of pure tantalum sheet are similar to those of low carbon steel, and its strength is higher than that of low carbon steel. Furthermore, the die with ceramic Si3N4 was designed in the drawing test, and the influences of lubrication mediums on the surface quality of  pure tantalum parts and the material fluidity at the opening were analyzed. The results show that the using ceramic die can significantly reduce the surface seizing tumour of pure tantalum sheet, and the surface roughness of pure tantalum parts can be reduced and the material fluidity can be improved by choosing suitable lubrication medium.
