Abstract:

For the problem of the difficulty in ball head forming of ball head pin, the two-position forming process method with pre-upsetting ball head and end-upsetting ball head was proposed, and the forming process of ball head was simulated numerically by finite element software DEFORM-3D. Then, the influences of process parameters in pre-upsetting position and end-upsetting position on ball head forming were analyzed, and combined with orthogonal experiment method, taking the die fillet, cone angle, friction coefficient, stamping speed and transition fillet as the test parameters, the orthogonal experiment with five factors and four levels was designed. Furthermore, the optimization objective was to minimize the load on die in the forming process, and the optimal combination of parameters were obtained by range analysis and variance analysis with die fillet of 0.2 mm, cone angle of 20°, friction coefficient of 0.05, stamping speed of 10 mm·s-1 and transition fillet of 3 mm. Finally, based on the actual production, the reliability of simulation results was verified which effectively guided the production of enterprises in actual production.
