Abstract:

  In order to save costs, improve the utilization rate of materials, and improve the quality and production efficiency of products, the application of non-flanging die forging process is more and more widely used, but it is inevitable to encounter the problems of excessive load and low mold life. Therefore, for a spur gear, its die forging process was simulated by software DEFORM-3D. Aiming at the problems of large forming force and low mold life, on the basis of the original process, two improved processes, namely floating die and hole split method, were proposed, and the forming laws of forgings and the changes of mold load were analyzed respectively. The results show that the improved process is beneficial to reduce the mold load and prolong the service life of mold, and by adopting the floating die and hole split processes, the mold load is reduced by 10% and 25%, respectively.
