For the defects of cracking, wrinkling, fluffing and high springback in the stamping process for dual-phase steel (DP590) used in automotive industry, cupping tests and cone cups experiments of DP590 were conducted at different temperatures. The influence of temperature on Erichsen value (IE) and the value of cone cups were studied, and the formability of DP590 under high temperature was evaluated. The experimental results show that the forming force decreases in a gradient with the rising temperature, however, Erichsen value (IE) has an upward trend which increases slowly below 400 ℃ and rapidly from 600 to 900 ℃, and the value of cone cups reduces gradually. Cupping test process was simulated based on tresca yield criterion. The simulation results match well with the experimental results. The fracture position of part in the process of cupping test is predicted, and the fracture result produced in the cupping test is analyzed as double bulging.
