CuNi2Si, a sort of nickel silicon bronze material, is widely used in high speed rail contact net in recent years. In copper alloy forging process, abnormal banded pattern on the surface of forge pieces was observed. According to this issue, the abnormal forge pieces were analyzed with direct-reading spectrometer, metallographic microscope, SEM and EDS. The result shows that internal components and organization structure without abnormity in both copper bar and forge piece meet the requirement. However, the microscope analysis of forging surface shows obvious lamination from substrate. And chemical constituents are distinct from substrate. Thus the abnormal phenomenon is caused by other materials adhere to raw material surface. So corresponding measures were put forward and a relatively ideal result was got.
