Abstract:
Dimples is a particular defects in Multi\|point forming (MPF) of sheet metal, it is a problem that the designer have to overcome in MPF. In this paper, through the mechanics analysis of dimpling in MPF process, the methods to restrain dimple are suggested. Numerical results and forming test of typical specimens demonstrate that dimples can be eliminated effectively by the techniques of elastic cushion and multi\|step MPF.
