Through the coupled thermo-mechanical FE simulations of closed-die cold Forging of two materials, the influence of mechanical and thermal properties of work-material and process conditions such as punch velocity, interfacial friction on heat generation and temperature distribution in the component and the die is investigated. FE simulation results indicate that the temperature changes in the component and tools during forming process will affect the dimensional accuracy of the formed component due to thermal expansion and contraction. The properties of the work-material have a decisive influence on heat generation and temperature distribution in the component. the changes in process conditions will produce pronounced differences on the scale of temperature increases and distribution.
