Abstract:
The main failure mode of the finish hot- forging dies for Valves are the hot wear of col- lapse.The hardness,yield strength,Wear resistance at the room and the high temperature,and the ther- mal stability ,the nitrided capabitity of 0 12 Al steel ( 5Cr4 Mo3Si Mn VAl) are better than that of 3Cr2 W8V steel,so in theory the dies made of0 12 Al steel could have a longer service life than the con- ventional3Cr2 W8V Steel.Because the dies were hardly cracken of fractured itwould be possible in theo- ry to lengthen the die service life by means of increasing the hardness,yield strength,wear resistance at the room and high temperature,and the thermal stability of the dies made of0 12 Al steel,For this rea- son,We will raise the quanching temperature about50℃ and decrease the tempering temperature about 30℃ during die heat treatment.The production tests shown that the die service life of0 12 Al steel was 1.8~ 2 .2 times of3Cr2 W8V steel.
