Abstract:
In order to Obtain titanium alloy forgings with reproducible microstructures and properties,a new method to determinate the thermomechanical parameters for forging processes was proposed based on the dissipative structure theory and dynamic material model(DMM).Taking TC11 titanium alloy for example,the proce- dure of applying the proposed appoach to determinating the forging process parameters was illustrated in detail.Some graphs valuable for defining the process window of TC11 titanium alloy forging processes using hammer or press were also presented for the first time in this article.The results of this study indicate that the reproducibility of microstructures and properties of the forgings can be guaranteed and a wide range of equipment can be selected for the forging processes while TC11 alloy forging processes are performed within a stroke by using large strain at the temperature as close as possible to β/(α+β)transus temperture.
