Abstract:

According to characteristics of ring rolling process, a method dealing with the unknown mandrel velocity and distribution of roll reductions is proposed so that the problems met in the rigid plastic FEM culculation of ring rolling is solved. The comparision of calculated and experimental results shows that the method has the merits of easy handling, exact results and short calculation time. with the FEM method, the ring rolling process and the disgn of ring rolling mill can be guided. Besides ring rolling, the given method can be also used in analysis of other asymmetric rolling processes.
