Abstract:
Cropping under axial load consists of three deformation stages., elastic deformation, elary concentration of shearing deformation and localization flow in narrow shear band. The process is composed of two kinds of deformation models, one corresponds to the second stages, and the other corresponds to the third stages and show distinguishing feature of narrow shear deformation band. The geometrical precision of cropped billets and the quality of cropped surface are dependent on the former and the latter madels respectively. Results of elastoplastic FEM show that axial pressure and axial clearance have obvious effects on deformation process and deformation models of materials in cropping, and furthermore on the quality of cropped billets. These mentioned above are consistent with experimental results.
