Abstract:
In the present paper, rolling of rings with different cross sections is analysed by using a 3D rigid-plastic finite element method. The problems met in analysis, such as determination of mandrel velocity, distribution of roll reductions, initial contact lines between ring and rolls and boundary conditions are solved. The calculated results are very helpful to more deeply understand the deformation mechanics of ring rolling process and useful in practical ring production and design of mills.
