Abstract:

The good element shape and large minimum edge size of initial blank mesh is needed in the simulation process using dynamic explicit finite element method to meet the requirement of calculation precision and solving speed. The traditional two dimensional finite element mesh generation method can not completely meet the requirement of initial blank mesh. A new initial blank mesh generation method based on boundary trimming was proposed,which could assure the special requirement of regular quad-element shape and proper minimum element size and the number of defective element was reduced over 40%. Compared with traditional method,the new method is easy to be achieved with high efficiency and has been applied to the whole process forming simulation module of Fastamp software and got the good application effect.
