Abstract:
A large deformation elastic-plastic finite element model was developed to simulate the rotary swaging process of thin-walled tube, a benchmark from International Cold Forging Group (ICFG) 2008. Based on the simulation results, the effects of cold rotary swaging with high-frequency pulse stroking on the distributions of different field variables such as stress and strain were clarified; the different friction contributions were discussed as well. A comparison between the calculated results and experimental data was demonstrated. The result of simulation with friction coefficient of 0.3 is the closest; with the discontinuous local incremental forming process, the deformation of the tube increases by "point-line-surface" and uniformly distributes on circumference; the deformation force step rises until reaches maximum, then it goes forward in small oscillation. And according to the research, friction is not so related to the deformation force.
