Abstract:
The Abaqus/Explicit dynamic explicit finite element method was used to simulate automotive sheet metal forming under the different punch velocity. The node's velocity and strain rate were analyzed. The result shows that with the increment of forming speed, the velocity of nodes increases accordingly, especially in complicated forming area. It was pointed out that the mechanics of automobile steel sheet with strain rate 10-2 s-1 should be used to FE material model in order to accurately simulate real forming.
