Abstract:

A new technology of cam shaft formed by cross wedge rolling was put forward.The roller profile and shaping curves of tools were obtained.The cross wedge rolling deformation process of the cam shaft was simulated with three-dimension finite element soft DEFORM-3D using rigid-plastic finite element method.During the process of simulating roll,the contour of the cam was gradually generated by cam groove while roller wedges were operating material discharge,and the inside right-angle step of rolling work piece was also gradually formed.The position of smaller stress-strain field was occurred at the apex and center of the cam.The maximum value was taken place at the areas between the work piece and the roller,and the total stress-strain field tended to symmetrical distribution.Simulation results indicate that the new technology of cam shaft formed by cross wedge rolling is feasible.
