Abstract:

Forming force,as one of the main parameters in process design of medium-thick sheet metal bulk forming,is an important basis of press selection and tool strength checking.Based on the finite element method,a series of sheet metal extrusion process simulations were conducted under different combinations of process parameters,which were arranged by the orthogonal experiments method.The results show that the key factors which affect the forming force in different phases of the extrusion process are extrusion ratio,material property and original sheet thickness.Furthermore,the influences of extrusion ratio,material property and original sheet thickness on the extrusion process were studied.The research results can provide theoretical guidelines for the process planning and tool design of sheet metal extrusion process.
