Abstract:
The forging difficulty of locomotive gear hub billet was analyzed and simulated with finite element analysis commercial software MSC.Superfom.The rule of metal flow in special model was found.The result of simulated reveals that original design has some faults.The hub of gear could not be filled by metal.To avoid metal flowing out to the hub,the design of the die and the parameter of process were modified based on simulation.Gear hub was produced with the modified die and process.The result of simulation was verified by the practice.The locomotive gears were forged well.
