Abstract:
The microstructure evolution of SIMA (Strain Induced Melt Activation) semi solid state forming method for Al-3%Si was studied so as to provide a theoretical instruction for processing the aluminum alloy components by SIMA semi solid state forming process.After plastic deformation,the microstructure evolved into coarse grains from polygon grain,uniformed granule and globular grains.The research results show that the more amount of deformation is,the smaller averaged diameter and the higher roundness are after heat holding.But when the ration of plastic deformation is more than 50%,the diameter could hardly change.The longer the time of heat holding is,the bigger the diameter of the grain and the higher roundness are.The roundness will almost remain the same when the time of heat holding is between 60min and 90min.
