Abstract:
An advanced superplastic backward extrusion forming new technology is presented in this paper.By using the technology a cupulate part is formed by the commercial wrought magnesium alloys AZ31D.This is an exciting forming test.Firstly,the formed part can meet the engineering requirement in geometric tolerance without any further machining.Secondly the superplastic forming technology has greatly improved both microstructure and mechanical property of the magnesium alloy.For example,the grain size is refined from several hundred μm of the billet to 5~10 μm of the formed part. The hardness is increased from 43HB of the original billet to 57HB of formed part.The hardness increment is 26.7%.In this paper the details of the experiment process are given,and the experiment results are analyzed.Finally the essence of this kind of special superplastic forming is also discussed.
