Abstract:
In this paper, according to the shape character of differential gauge, a feasible scheme is analyzed in detail by which the forging is manufactured in a horizontal split precision closed die from three horizontal directions. The differential gauge forging can be made by general open die or horizontal split precision closed die. Though the technology of open die is simple, it has shortcomings such as, needing blank(s) making, longer technological line and lower rate of material usage ratio. The forging can be successfully shaped once by horizontal split precision closed die with such advantages as higher forging quality, stabile process, material usage ratio which is 20%~30% higher compared to that of the open die. However, the structure of the closed precision mould mounted on the general forging machine is complex; the simplicity of the die in the special forging machine is at the cost of lowering the universal property of the machine. When the batch is very big, the higher profit can be gained by using the special forging machine. The model is simulated on the Deform-3D software and the closed die forging process is confirmed rightly.
