Abstract:
The effect of different heating location on thermal differential mouldless forging of steel cylindrical billet is studied by use of Autoforge software. The feasibility of simulation of Autoforge software is validated by excellent agreement between experimental and simulating results. The research results indicate that in order to obtain ideal thermal differential mouldless forging effect there exists a maximal height reduction which is related to local heating location, even though the distortion only occurs in the local heating zone.
