Abstract:
This paper describes the principle of equal channel angular pressing (ECAE/ECAP) to make ultra-fine grain structure material. The experiment takes the purity copper bar as the sample which are subjected to several pressings. After equal-channel angular pressings, there are a large number of dislocation twines and dislocation grains and with the consequent deformation developed, sub-grain bands will be become equiaxial grains. After four pressings, bandings of structure and texture are vanished and after that with the severe shearing function grain boundaries are continually thickened and revolved. So the homogeneous high angle boundaries ultra-fine grains which are about 500nm~1μm can be achieved.
