Abstract:

The cage roll forming is a kind of forming processes that a steel strip is bended into round shape by a number of forming cage rolls.It is an important processing technology for manufacturing pipes.The advanced process design technology for a cage roll forming process involves CAD,CAE and data management,so the integration of different platforms is very important.A parametric design system for the cage roll forming process was established based on VB.Through the interface technology of VB to ANSYS,MATLAB and ACCESS database,the parameter design,finite element simulation and database were integrated,then a process design system was developed.This system can manage the parameters for the whole roll forming process,design new rolls,flower patterns,determine forming parameters,and realize automatic CAD/CAE modeling and simulation.This platform can provide an important guide for engineers in pipe manufacturing process.
