Abstract:

Ti-1023 is difficult to form components with Z sections due to the severe high-temperature oxidation, the narrow range of forging temperature and high deformation resistance, as well as viscous flow. The existed protective lubricants can not meet the requirement. The glass-base protective lubricant for the isothermal super plastic forging of Ti-1023 titanium alloy was investigated through heating tests, properties tests and technology tests. The proportion of this new protective lubricant includes∶borax∶GL09∶binder distributor∶TiC=20∶80∶100∶8-10; the coating thickness is 0.08-0.14 mm. The experiment illustrates that the new lubricant has beneficial effects of protection and long working capabilities.
