Abstract:

During the radial forging process, the workpiece gradually becomes still while the hammer presses it. After the hammer moves up, the rotation movement of the workpiece goes to free vibration for the potential energy of the spring bars. The appropriate torsion stiffness of spring bars has a great effect on the vibration of the workpiece and the criteria of the stiffness are the key parameters in the radial forging process. The mathematical model was built for the rotation vibration system constituted by workpiece and spring bars combined with both mathematical analytical model and FEA model. And the movement of the workpiece was analyzed and the determination criteria of the torsion stiffness was discussed, which provided the theoretical basis to design of spring bar for the actual process.
