Abstract:

During the forging production process, the thermal load and the mechanical load that the hot forging die bear can lead to failure like wear, fracture, plastic forming and mechanical fatigue and The wear is the most common failure. Long life hot forging die samples were prepared based on the Functionally Gradient Materials technology and surface cladding process, the wear distribution was compared and analyzed between the homogeneous and long life hot forging die, and the service life of these two dies was predicted. The main results show that the combination of Functionally Gradient Materials and surface cladding in long life hot forging die can prolong the service life of the dies effectively.
