Title:Microstructure and mechanical property of rheoforged A356 aluminum alloy in semisolid state

Abstract:

The semisolid A356 alloy slurry was prepared by mechanical stirring method and rheoforged in 200 t oil press. The microstructures and mechanical properties of rheoforged A356 alloy samples without and with T6 treatment were investigated. Results show that the rheoforged A356 alloy samples with fine spherical grains can be obtained and its tensile strength and elongation are 261.7 MPa and 4.1%. The rheoforged A356 alloy samples have a good ageing strengthening and comprehensive mechanical properties. The tensile strength and elongation of samples with T6 treatment are 347.8 MPa and 3.2%, which is contributed to the compacted microstructure with fine spherical grains of samples.
