Abstract:

Combined with the actual hot extrusion test and peak stress constitutive relation, a two-dimensional axisymmetric finite element model was built for the IN690 superalloy tube during hot extrusion process. The deformation zone of the model was accordance with the deformation zone parameters of actual steady-state extrusion. The simulated steady extrusion force was in good agreement with the experimental results. The different deformation zone parameters were investigated. The results show that there is a minimum extrusion force for the cone deformation zone. The relatively stable maximum temperature is obtained by flat-conical deformation zone and bowl deformation zone. The local temperature rise of bowl deformation zone is the smallest. In order to reduce extrusion force and rise temperature, as well as improve surface quality, the bowl deformation zone and double-cone deformation area is recommended.
