Title:Adaptive element remesh in simulation of ring rolling process

Abstract:

In FEM simulation of ring rolling process, element distortion is aroused by large deformation. An adaptive mesh refinement and remesh algorithm was studied. Based on analyzing the mesh distortion, a remesh activation criteria was put forward according to the discrete error of space domain. Considering the features of ring rolling, the new mesh was generated by an improved gridbased algorithm through establishing standard ring grids. The field variables inheritance between the new and original meshes was accomplished by variable smoothing and mapping transformation. Finally, the validity of the adaptive mesh refinement and remesh algorithm is proved by computation examples.
