Abstract:

3D FEM of multi-point press bending of rectangular tube was established based on the analysis software ABAQUS. The cross-section distortion between integral press bending and multi-point press bending of rectangular tube were compared and the effect factors, such as friction coefficient, wall thickness and bending radius were researched for multi-point press bending of rectangular tube. The results show that the cross-section distortion of rectangular tube bended by multi-point die is slightly larger than that formed by integral die, and the maximum cross-sectional distortion of rectangular tube is less than 10%. The friction coefficient has little effect to the cross-section distortion. The thicker the wall thickness is or the larger the bending radius is, the smaller the cross-section distortion of rectangular tube will be. The forming experiment verifies the feasibility of multi-point press bending of rectangular tube.
