Abstract:

The simulation method was used to settle the problems including  great load, high stress, cracks and low life of upper die. With the analysis of 3D simulation software Deform-3D, the precision forging forming process of claw pole and stress state of the mold were analyzed. The results show that the main reason for die cracks is the overlarge local pressure. The stress in the part where the cracks appeared easily was reduced by 44.2% through improving the structure of top die, such as deepening groove of claw pole in pre-forging and adding overflow hole in finish-forging. As a result, the life of top die is prolonged.
