Abstract:

Tube spinning was simulated using nonlinear contact of ABAQUS software. When the blank wall thickness was 5 mm, the forward and backward spinning's optimal thinning rates were 32% and 30% respectively and also the limit thinning rate of qualified workpieces in a spinning were 48% and 42% respectively. With the blank wall thickness increasing, the limit thinning rate and the optimal thinning rate of forward and backward spinning would be reduced. When the blank wall thickness achieved 7 mm, the growth rate of spinning pressure would be increased significantly. The research shows that using finite element numerical simulation can provide an effective way to select technical parameters, improve product quality and reduce trial processing process.
