Abstract:

Analysis of test results with regression analysis method in the point contact plastic deformation of metallic materials shows that the linear relationship between pressure P and the indentation depth h is significant and the linear correlation coefficient is greater than 0.99, closing to 1. It confirms that the plastic strength at the point contact remains unchanging during plastic deformation and indicates that the metal during plastic deformation is in the ideal plastic state. With secondary test method, the mean deviation between the point contact strength and the theoretical value is only 1.6%, which proves that the secondary test method can be used to measure the contact plastic strength accurately and points out that the point contact plastic strength can be applied as a new mechanics performance index to evaluate the capability of metal material resistance to point plastic contact deformation.
