Abstract:

The finite element and curvature analysis technology was used to study the surface defect in auto outer door panel caused by springback. First, the commercial software pamstamp was employed for the forming simulation and the springback calculation. Second, the crosssections of the model were extracted, and the curvature of each point was calculated. According to the analysis of curvature, the surface defect was located in the place where curvature dramatically changed. Compared with the actual panel shape, the simulated result has predicted the areas of defects. Finally, the influence of process parameters on the surface defect was discussed.
