Abstract:

Cage roll-forming has been widely used in pipe production. Considering the complexity of cage roll-forming process of high frequency welding (HFW) pipes, which involved large deflection and nonlinearity, a large deformation elastic-plastic finite element model of the linear section of Φ508 mm welded pipe cage forming mill was established and simulated through adopting dynamic explicit algorithm in order to understand the deformation process better. The distribution of effective plastic strain and the deformed geometry of the strip at the linear section were obtained, and the accuracy of simulation was validated through the measurements. The simulation results show that at the linear section the biggest effective plastic strain occurs at the center of strip and the strip edge.
