Abstract:

Regarding the tradeoff between higher simulation accuracy and computational efficiency, the tensile experiments and the limit bulge experiments were conducted for the weld of tailor welded blanks (TWBs) with the base material ZSTE260E and dissimilar thickness in order to select the suitable modeling method. The effect was analyzed for the weld modeling method on the limit bulge experiment in conditions of the maximum load, the maximum displacement and the failure modes, using experiments and finite element method under three typical kinds of strain states. The results show that the weld has a significant impact on the forming behaviors of TWBs when the failure occurs at the weld, and the weld properties need to be considered in weld modeling. According to the effect of weld modeling method on the forming behaviors of TWBs, the matching parameters scope of base material in the weld modeling of weld for TWBs is obtained.
