Abstract:

The robust design is applied in the sheet metal forming process in order to increase the life and stability of the sheet metal products and reduce the fluctuation of uncontrollable factors. Since the interaction between controllable factors and uncontrollable factors is not taken into account in the traditional robust design, the robustness of the sheet metal products can not be guaranteed. Considering the above interaction, the response surface method and tolerance model were applied to robustness optimization design for the sample square box of NUMISHEET 93. In the optimization process, the central composite design method was applied to construct the response surface model, which includes the interaction between controllable factors and uncontrollable factors. The tolerance robust model with the interaction was created by using the mean and variance of the objective and constraint functions. The optimization results and the deterministic optimization result were carried on by the Monte-Carlo simulation and compared respectively. The result shows that the robustness of the forming products is improved significantly and the robustness optimization is feasible in the sheet metal forming field.
