Abstract:

In the process of extrusion for stainless steel, the glass is a common lubricant. The glass powder is used to lubricate the inner and outer area of hot billet. The glass pad made of glass power and glass water is used to lubricate constantly in the extrusion process and plays an important role in heat insulation, protecting extrusion die and decreasing extrusion force. The surface quality of extrusion products, the attrition rate of extrusion die, the extrusion force, the front size stability of extrusion tube and the length of cutting end are directly affected by the lubrication effect of glass pad. The hot extrusion experiment of stainless steel tube whose ratio of outer diameter to wall thickness is 12.7 was conducted by the 60 MN hydraulic horizontal extruder, and the shape of glass pad used in the experiment was optimized to design. Through optimization of the glass pad, the front fork of extrusion products is avoided, the front size deviation of tube and abrasion of the extrusion die are reduced, the glass powder quantity is decreased, and the extrusion peak stress is fallen.
