Abstract:

Titanium, with outstanding performance, has rapid development in the field of application of aerospace, ships, petrochemicals, etc., and gradually replaces stainless steel and some non-ferrous metals in many fields, so it is necessary to study the forging process for titanium and its alloys. The effects of forging process before and after improvement on the microstructure of forgings were studied. Compared the metallographic structure of stock obtained from actual forgings with simulation experiments obtained by Deform-3D, the information of the stress, strain and metal flow in forging process were obtained. The results show that the microstructure inhomogeneous of large-size bars can be improved by employing the β transformation heat treatment with a quenching subsequently and changing the type of forging process, the homogeneous microstructure with fine spherality or short rhabditiform α structure was obtained, which makes the subsequent processing TC4 bars have good mechanical performances.
