Title:Withhold crack analysis on sheath of automotive air conditioning tube

Abstract:

For the problem that the sheath will be cracked when the automotive air conditioning tube withholds, the FEM model of withhold forming was built and numerical simulation was carried out. Simulation analysis shows that nonuniform expansion of the sheath mouth in the process of sheath withholding leads to the maximum principal stress exceeding the material Al3003-H12 tensile strength 130 MPa, so the crack is generated in the sheath mouth. The tension stress of sheath mouth after withhold forming could be reduced by changing the shape of sheath. The maximum principal stress on the sheath mouth during withhold forming dropped to about 100MPa and the decreasing range was around 23%. Processing test results show that the improved sheath can avoid the defects of the sheath crack and reduce the waste rate considerably.
