Abstract:

With the help of finite element analysis software Deform-3D, the precision forming process of spiral bevel gears was simulated. Based on the structural feature of spiral bevel gear, the extruding part was designed. The extrusion forming process with a pothole in the middle to divide metal flow was applied, the influences of the preform cone angle, split gap, split position on forming quality and forming force were analyzed. The simulation results show that the forming force is less when the cone angle of perform is 135°-145°.The forming force is effected by the change of the split gap. Considering the cost of material, the split gap is chosen between 8-10 mm, and the split position is away from tooth shape parts of the die. Defining the suitable optimized parameters can reduce the forming force, and improve the forming quality.
