Title:Experimental investigation on the stiffness and static residual dent resistance of automotive steel sheet bulging specimen

Abstract:
Stiffness and static residual dent resistance are important indicators of automotive performance. For the characteristics of automotive steel, the dent resistance performance of automobile sheet metal was studied by typical bulging piece. Bulging specimens of sheet metal DC04 with two kinds of different thicknesses and sheet metal H340LA with one kind of thickness were bulged into three different heights under the same boundary condition. Dent resistance tests were carried out on nine kinds of different bulging specimens. The results show that the static residual dent resistance of bulging specimens can be increased by using material with higher yield strength. Stiffness and static residual dent resistance of bulging specimens increase significantly with the increasing of material thickness. However, within a certain range, stiffness and static residual dent resistance of bulging specimens remain unchanged or increase slightly with the increasing of bulging height.
