Abstract:
A kind of soft interference checking method was proposed. The method applies the spatial subdivision that is commonly used in collision detection. Global bounding box of objects was divided into several spatial grids with the same volume, and the surfaces of objects were discretized into triangular grid model that mapped to spatial grids. Finally, soft interference checking was realized on triangular facet of the same or the adjacent spatial grid. A soft interference checking system was developed based on the platform of Unigraphics NX with high calculation speed and precision. It can be used to check soft interference on automobile panel dies rapidly and can help to improve the efficiency and reduce errors in the design of automobile panel dies. In the end, the influence of the size of triangular facet and spatial grid on the calculation efficiency was analyzed through a case study.
